Mortise-and-Tenon Wood Table

A solid-wood dining/work table built entirely from traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery — no metal hardware. Four square legs each carry a vertical tenon that locks into a socket on the underside of the tabletop. Four aprons frame the underside of the top, with through-tenons entering mortises cut into the legs from perpendicular directions. Two side stretchers sit low between the front-back leg pairs and resist racking. The aprons are inset slightly from the leg faces, which both relieves the Ming-style silhouette and leaves enough wood around each mortise to keep the joinery rigid. Parametric dimensions cover everything from a compact 700×450 writing desk to a 1800×1000 dining table.
