Dowel-Jointed Single Bed Frame

A single bed frame (2000 x 1000 mm) assembled entirely with wooden dowels. Four square corner posts -- taller at the head, lower at the foot -- carry two side mattress rails; inner cleats fixed to the rails support a field of evenly spaced mattress slats whose middle spans rest on a central lengthwise sleeper rail, itself braced by a support leg down to a middle cross stretcher. Lower stretchers tie the posts on all four sides, and the head and foot ends carry horizontal board slats. Every joint is registered and held by 8 mm dowels in drilled blind holes, so no metal fasteners are used.
